Marcus
Mason
January 10, 1954 – May 25, 2026
Marcus James Mason, lovingly known as Marc, passed away on May 25, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and many people who loved him dearly.
Marc was born on January 10, 1954, in Kankakee, Illinois, to James Henry Mason and MaryLou Norvell Mason. He grew up alongside his four siblings, Linda, Barbara, JoAnn, and Bruce.
Marc proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and later worked and retired from HAFB in Utah. It was there that he met the love of his life, Linda. They were married on December 1, 1994, and together made homes in Clinton, Willard, and Fielding, Utah, where they formed many lasting friendships and shared years of love and companionship.
After the passing of his wife, Marc later moved to Ferron, Utah, where he continued to embrace the things he loved most. He found peace and happiness in the outdoors, often hiking several times a week, riding his quad, and seeking out new adventures whenever he had the chance.
Marc lived life with curiosity and creativity. Earlier in life, he enjoyed exploring abandoned mines with friends and built and sold ore cars. He had a natural artistic talent and created unique pieces of horseshoe art through welding. Gifted with mechanical skill and a strong work ethic, Marc took pride in restoring vehicles and motorcycles and bringing them back to life. Among his favorites was his early model 70’s GMC pickup, a truck that reflected the care and pride he poured into the things he loved. Marc was passionate about nature and astronomy. He spent many mornings watching the sunrise, many evenings watching the sunset, and many nights looking into the stars with his telescope.
He also treasured time spent with friends at Crystal Hot Springs and made a point to stay connected with family, faithfully calling his siblings and keeping those relationships close to his heart.
In November 2025, Marc was diagnosed with leukemia. Even during difficult times, he continued making memories and was grateful for the opportunity to take a meaningful road trip with his brother Bruce, revisiting places that held special significance to him.
More than anything, Marc will be remembered for the kind of person he was. He was the kind of man who would help anyone who needed it and would give freely of his time, talents, and heart. His generosity, loyalty, and willingness to lend a hand touched many lives and created friendships that lasted a lifetime.
As his family, we will forever cherish the memories we shared with him. We find comfort in imagining the joyful reunions he may now share with those who went before him and in knowing that his love and presence will remain with us always.
Marc was preceded in death by his parents, James and MaryLou Mason; his beloved wife, Linda; his son, Jason Mason, and grandson Derek Hilliker.
He is survived by his siblings, Linda, Barbara, JoAnn, and Bruce; his stepson, Brent (Teri) Roundy; and his grandson, Colten Roundy, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply.
In lieu of flowers, go enjoy a sunrise or sunset, or look for Marc in the stars.
A special thanks to the many family and friends who helped Marc through these past difficult months.
