Kathryn Pincock Seely 1941 – 2026 “TOGETHER AGAIN” Castle Dale, Utah—Kathryn Pincock Seely, 85, returned to her Heavenly Father on June 17, 2026, at Price, Utah. Kathryn was born March 15, 1941, in Rexburg, Idaho, the third of four children of Mark L. and LaRee Smith Pincock.
When she was a young child, her family moved to Gilbert, Arizona, for a few years. Later they settled in Caldwell, Idaho, where Kathryn graduated from Caldwell High School in 1959. She was a graduate of Ricks College in 1961, and later received her BS degree from Brigham Young University, with a major in English, in 1965. In Provo, she met Montell Seely. They were married August 27, 1963, in the Idaho Falls LDS temple. Montell preceded her in death on August 12, 2008. They had been married 45 years. Kathryn was a secretary, and her secretarial skills complemented her husband’s work. Montell was primarily a farmer/rancher, and he was a resident historian of Castle Dale, Utah, most notably writing and producing the Castle Valley Pageant, a 31-year commitment for the whole family. Together, and with the aid of committees, the couple compiled/published books: Emery County, 1880-1980; three volumes of Seely History; and Castle Valley Pageant History. She was actively involved in community and church, serving as ward Relief Society president twice, stake Relief Society secretary, director of the Singing Mothers and the Ward Choir, and as a teacher in all the auxiliaries. Kathryn was a happy stay-at-home mother to her six daughters and one son. She loved cooking and entertaining, reading, quilting, ballroom dancing, square dancing, traveling, and participating in family gatherings. She loved music—especially the classics and popular songs from the ‘50s. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was a uniquely gifted woman and will be dearly missed by many.
Kathryn is survived by her children Karla Thalman, Surprise, Arizona; Fawn (Tim) Miller, Manti, Utah; Mark (Kate) Seely, Castle Dale, Utah; LeAnne Seely, Castle Dale, Utah; Janell (Kyle) Beagley, Castle Dale, Utah; son-in-law Brant (Irene) James, Windsor, Missouri; sister Cindy (Dave) Allred, Murray, Utah; sister-in-law Karen Ricks Pincock, Bountiful, Utah; sister-in-law Dorothy Seely Barlow, Layton, Utah; 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren with three on the way; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family; and friends Mani and Lippa Grewal and family, Draper, Utah.
She is preceded in death by her parents Mark and LaRee Pincock, husband Montell Seely, daughters Monette Seely and Valerie James, brother Glade Pincock, sister Ruth Carr, brother-in-law Kermit Carr, son-in-law Thane Thalman, and granddaughter Kirsten Beagley. The family expresses gratitude for the love and generosity of Kathryn’s many dear friends and caregivers over the years.
