In memory of Jack Dallas “Match” Judkins, who passed away on August 25, 2026, at the age of 46.

Dallas was born on December 22, 1979, in Ogden, Utah to Kerry Earnest Judkins and Glenda Rae Brinkerhoff Hansen.

In 1998, Dallas met the love of his life, Christy Marie Brakefield, at a bus stop after they had both missed the bus. From that chance meeting, a life together blossomed and they were married on December 27, 2007 in Ogden, Utah. Together, Dallas and Christy welcomed four beautiful children into the world. Becoming a father brought Dallas immeasurable joy and fulfillment, and he always did whatever he could to support his family over the years.

If you knew Dallas, you probably knew his sense of humor. It was nearly impossible to have a conversation with him without him finding a way to sneak in a joke. Sometimes the joke was subtle, sometimes it wasn't, but somehow he always managed to make everyone around him laugh. When he wasn't joking around, Dallas could be found having deeply intellectual conversations about anything and everything. He loved thinking abstractly, asking questions, and exploring new ideas to find a deeper understanding of the world around him. He always had something smart or funny to say.

Dallas had a generous heart and was the kind of person who would go out of his way to help someone. If there was something he could do for another person, he usually did. He was a loyal and dedicated friend, a loving partner, and a fiercely protective father. The people that he loved knew that his love wasn’t just a phrase said at the end of a phone call or the end of the day—it was something that he showed them through his actions.

Dallas found happiness in the simple things. He found peace in the outdoors, fishing, and wandering through the desert looking for rocks and other unusual treasures. He was always singing and had a beautiful voice. He loved poetry and was an avid Shel Silverstein fan. He read Silverstein’s books so often that he could recite many of the poems from memory.

Dallas had a way of leaving pieces of himself behind in the people around him. In a joke that gets repeated years later. In a song someone remembers him singing. In a rock picked up from the desert because it looked interesting. In a Shel Silverstein poem that his children may someday recite to their own children. In the stories his siblings will tell about growing up together. And most of all, in the love he gave to his family.

He is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife, Christy Marie Brakefield; his children, Kindra Daisie, Omni Xavier, Jack Ocean, and Isla Rein Judkins; his mother, Glenda Rae Brinkerhoff Hansen; his siblings, Heather Rae Otterstrom, Leslie Ann (Curtis) Judkins-Helmick, and Ariel Dawn (Sara) Halton; and his countless aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kerry Earnest Judkins; and his beloved grandparents.
