CARBONVILLE- Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt and sister, Gladys Ann Young Wilson, age 93, left us on May 6, 2026 to return to her father in heaven and to waiting family members, including her husband Milton, who was the love of her life, an infant son, Thomas; oldest daughter, Linda; youngest son, Milton Caleb.
She was born to Lawrence Jeffrerson Young and Mary Hazel Murray Young on September 11, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mom moved to Carbonville in her early teens and met Milton, who lived at the top of the lane while mom lived at the bottom of the lane. Together they had 9 children. Milton passed in 1976 and mom raised Wendi and Cale without him. She later also helped raise her grandson Brandon.
Gladys was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, DUP and Pythians. Mom worked many jobs along with raising her children. She was a skilled seamstress, making most of her children school clothes, and later made many of the daughters wedding dresses, clothes for rodeos, horseshows, or any occasion we needed something. She also did sewing for non family members, friends and neighbors. Mom owned a tack shop selling western tack, gear and clothing that she had sewn. She published a western newsletter. She also rode and competed in riding club and barrel raced.
Mom worked for many years at Office Equipment and enjoyed her time there. She spent time as a security guard at the Huntington Power Plant and she was a top Tupperware demonstrator, earning a station wagon due to her sales. Doing all these things in order to take care of her family. Milton and Gay always had a large garden to help feed the family, and she would can everything she could and store it in the cellar that our dad would dig at every home we lived in.
Mom lived in St. George for a time and worked for Arc. She was also able to travel with her sister Beth and brother-in-law Richard Barker along with the Arc group. They were able to go many places to share wonderful experiences in her time there.
Gladys worked hard throughout her life and was the glue that held her family together, and we feel her still watching over us. She was an accomplished artist and was very crafty, making many things for family members.
Survived by her daughters, Elaine (Keith) Snyder, Carol Dawson, Mary (Lee) Israel, Barbara (Dave) Rose, Wendi (Ryan) Hicks; son John (Christine) Wilson; 58 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren.
