FERRON- Hazel Dorothy Knight Kemple Taylor Allen, age 88, passed away April 25, 2026, at the San Rafael Care and Rehab Center in Ferron, Utah surrounded by her loving family. She had resided there for the last three years and loved and was loved by all those who cared for her.

She was born May 26, 1937, in Glenns Ferry, Idaho to Raymond and Winnie Hall Knight. She grew up around her grandparents farm in Idaho and in mining towns including Pioche and Bristol Silver, Nevada where she made many fond memories.

Dorothy met and married Clifford Leon Kimple, Sr. in St. George, Utah at a young age. They had 4 children. Clifford was in the military, and she traveled extensively with him to many countries and learned about many cultures and customs. She made friends easily and had friends from all walks of life and from everywhere. She and Clifford were later divorced. She settled in Salt Lake City where she met and married Gene Taylor. Together they raised 8 children. They moved to Ferron in 1981 and after 30 years of marriage Gene passed away in 2000.

Dorothy became the head librarian in Ferron where she worked for 26 years. She used her many artistic and creative talents to less the lives of all who entered her library, especially the children. She touched so many lives in her community, acting as mother, mentor and friend to everyone.

While serving as librarian she met Jimmie Allen who became her husband and love of her life. They were sealed in the Manti Temple in 2006. After 15 happy years of marriage Jimmie died in 2019.

Dorothy enjoyed reading, cooking (her cinnamon rolls are still legend), designing clothes, sewing, painting, building and remodeling everything from furniture to houses. She did everything with an artistic flair.

Dorothy was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions over the years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her family was her greatest joy. She was so proud of each one and always encouraged them to be their best.
