DeAnn Humphrey DeLange's earthly life ended on May 9, 2026, at the age of 84 after battling Alzheimer's.
DeAnn was born on May 17, 1941, in Orangeville, Utah, and raised by her parents Zinnia Fullmer and Dee H. Humphrey. She was the second of six children and preferred to work outside with her father.
After graduating salutatorian from South Emery High School, DeAnn earned an Associate Degree at Snow College, where she met Gary E. DeLange. They dated while pursuing degrees in education and married in the Manti Temple on June 2, 1962. DeAnn earned her Bachelor's Degree with honors from Utah State University. While in college, they welcomed three children, Burke, Kregg, and Marlo. Career opportunities led the couple through several moves across Utah and Idaho. After the marriage ended in 1974, DeAnn settled in Pocatello, Idaho, where she taught business education at Pocatello High School for 27 years, as well as classes at Idaho State University Vocational College. DeAnn resided in Pocatello until she reluctantly needed assistance and moved to Tacoma where she spent her final years living with her daughter.
DeAnn worked hard and supplemented her income with other jobs. Her favorite additional job was cooking for summer campers at Cathedral Pines Baptist Camp outside of Sun Valley, Idaho. She loved the outdoors and spending time in the mountains with her children. She enjoyed many adventures into the wilderness and road trips with family and close friends.
DeAnn was an incredible woman — strong, determined, and fiercely independent, all a reflection of her upbringing by pioneering parents. Her faith was unshakeable and endured to the end. She had a deep relationship with the Lord, and her belief in service to others was paramount. She practiced what she preached and brightened the lives of everyone she touched. She looked for the good in everyone, was accepting, non-judgmental, open-minded, and understanding while expecting your best effort without ever having to say so. She led by example and successfully raised three children who became a surgeon, a dentist, and a lawyer. She was profoundly devoted to her family, leaving a wake of kindness and love.
DeAnn is survived by her three children, Burke (Michele) DeLange, Kregg (LeAnne) DeLange, and Marlo DeLange (Paul Robson); 13 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and siblings Genevieve (Keith) Lake, Thomas Humphrey, and Ellen Green.
She is preceded in death by her sisters June Adams and Rita Cay Humphrey.
